Psychiatry

Psychiatrists are doctors who diagnose and treat addiction, emotional illness and mental problems. They can order medical tests, prescribe medicine and provide talk therapy.

Psychiatrists may work with primary care doctors, psychologists , social workers and nurses to help patients with:

• mental or emotional illness , such as anxiety, depression or schizophrenia
• addiction and substance abuse
• sexual or gender identity issues
